The bus stop is in front of the castle entrance.

Next to Horikawa (river).

The entrance to the castle is on the other side of the road. You buy tickets from vending machines (middle right).

Anyone knows what flowers are those?

Got some more shots of Horikawa and the bridges going over it before crossing over to the castle.

It started raining and it became cold.

But there's the palace's roof providing shelter so its fine for a bit.

The gate provided shelter from the rain too. You can see the rain in the above photo.

Can anyone make out the 2nd Kanji in the above photo? The bridge's name will do too.  Its Nijo Bashi/Nijo Bridge. Thanks Rakkyo.

On the way to the next destination, by foot.

The distance between the stone steps are quite wide.

On the way to the next destination, I spotted Matsuya. I checked the time: ~4pm, well whatever early dinner it is.

First beef bowl in Japan was great.

Now for the last destination of the day, Kyoto Gyoen.

But that will be in part 3.
