There were so many things to do at this year’s AFA that one couldn’t possibly be bored at all! I personally had a lot of fun but I didn’t manage to meet up with any of the other writers who went for AFA except Accelerator – and that was only because he commented on my Facebook status about the Anisong concert that I knew he was there at all.
The famous and very pretty cosplayers Ying Tze and Angie were there and Milky Holmes was there as well! I love Milky Holmes so much >A<
Personally I thought this year’s AFA was a bit of a let down, but because of the myriad of things one could do there I’d overlook that point. From the ever present artist street with local artists showing off their stuff to a Canon photo booth where you could take photos with a backdrop. From a huge Bandai booth with exclusives to the Good Smile Company booth where you could order upcoming Nendoroids and figmas. There was a Shingeki no Kyokin experience area where you could take a photo with a backdrop as well as a giant head of a titan. The Horipro booth had talk sessions as well as meet and greet + autograph sessions with their various artistes while the Culture Japan booth was busy selling their Mirai shirts and their famous Moekana and Moekanji.
One whole booth was each dedicated to Madoka, Love Live!, and SAO (I don’t know why, it doesn’t deserve it). The Madoka booth held a sure win kuji and there were a lot of prizes to grab including figurines and Nendoroids. I couldn’t give a damn about SAO and I have no idea what Love Live! is and judging from the looks of it, it just looks like a school version of The iDOLM@STER with teenagers and school children.
I got quite a lot of loot today, mostly Gundams and local art but there are two things that made me the happiest and one of it is a Dream Walker tapestry signed by the artist herself on the spot! There was a ballot to determine who could buy it and thankfully I won it >_<
The second thing to make me happy is a signed poster by Milky Holmes but I’ve lost it =( I want to kill myself already D=
One thing I want to talk about though, is the bad attitude of concert goers. During the 3 days of concerts, there were a lot of people whose attitudes can be frowned upon. Let’s take Friday’s concert for example:
I’m sorry to say this but local act Valerie is terrible and she is better off not trying to sound cute because it’s annoying as hell. But even then, could concert goers show some respect to the artiste and stand up and cheer? Even if you’re just pretending at least show the basic respect.
The Saturday concert was way worse. After LiSA finished singing, a whole lot of people packed up and just left. A good 1/4 of the VIP section disappeared and the free standing area went from bursting to just nice. What I found the most disgusting was that during Milky Holmes’ performance, almost everyone was just sitting down using their mobile phones and playing games. Just how rude can these people get?
I don’t know LiSA’s songs that well and I stood there cheering for her because she displayed so much energy, jumping around the stage and engaging the audience while singing. Hell I don’t even know who Eir Aoi is other than the fact that she sang Memoria for Fate/Zero and Sirius for Kill la Kill – there’s this vague memory she sang something for Gundam but I’m not sure – but I still stood up cheering because she sang with a lot of energy and did her best even though she didn’t know if there would be people who liked her music.
Imagine if you were Valerie or Milky Holmes and you saw people sitting down and not giving a damn about your performance. I am really unhappy with those who ignored the awesome performance they put up with all their time and sweat. Stinking bad attitude concert goers.
I really hope the attitude of concert goers of future AFAs will get better.
Well that’s enough of my yapping for now, how do events go for you?
