If you simply read the name off the logo, you’re still correct! On the 28th of December, this special idol group will be heading to Singapore for their first solo live! A special group that combines the classic bubblegum pop of idol groups as well as the heavy instrumentals of metal… Yes, the hybrid idol group BABYMETAL is coming to Singapore for their first overseas solo live!
Let me give you a brief history of the group: BABYMETAL used to be a sub-unit of Sakura Gakuin, an idol group which is composed of Middle School Students (13-15). BABYMETAL is composed of Su-metal, MoaMetal and Yui Metal who are 16, 14 and 14 respectively. Personally I find it amazing that they are able to perform so well despite their young age; most teenagers their age would be struggling with school work, let alone have as taxing a job as being an idol.
In 2012, they had their first concert here in Singapore at AFA’s I Love Anisong concert . This year, they performed at the AFA stage in a short showcase to promote their upcoming concert (which you must definitely attend). When they first performed here last year they were still relatively unknown by most Singaporeans, but over the past year they have grown to be popular with the idol fans all over Singapore.
