Exit the station, cross the road and bam, Gion.
A few minutes of straight walking and you'll reach Yasaka Jinja.
At the back of Yasaka Jinja, Maruyama Park.
Looks like the Cherry blossom season has ended/is ending.
Didn't explore much of Maruyama Park for some reason…
Next stop, Kiyomizu dera. Navigated through the narrow roads between Maruyama Park to Kiyomizu dera was an interesting experience.
Yep, more walking.
Going along Nene no Michi. Kodaiji is nearby.
Up some steps and its Kiyomizudera.
Walking from Shijo to Gojo through the narrow streets requires some effort, sometimes uphill, sometimes downhill. You have to avoid cars too, its especially hard when its crowded.
Zoomed in to Kyoto Tower and Higashi Honganji. More photos of Higashi Honganji in Day 1′s post.
Then its down to a food place just below. Had Kitsune Udon, was good.

Looking up
Off to the next destination, Heian Jingu. That means either walking back the way I came from to Yasaka Jinja and further north to Heian Jingu or walking to Kiyomizu Gojo station and train to Sanjo station or walking to Kiyomizu Gojo station and walk along Kamogawa to Sanjo station and walking eastwards from there to Heian Jingu.
Either way we've gotta exit Kiyomizudera.
Decided to walk towards Kiyomizu Gojo station.
Walking is a great way to save money and see more things in Kyoto.
Got a can of warm coffee from one of the vending machines along this road.
Yes that means walking all the way from Kiyomizudera to Heian Jingu.
After walking a kilometer plus, its time to head eastwards to Heian Jingu.
Continued in part 2.
